I swam out before the sunrise on this mild summer morning. The air and water are warm enough to make for a great beach day for the masses, but I am so early that I am completely alone. The waves are big enough to hear as I walk down to the water in the dark.

The sun hangs low on the horizon for just a brief moment in the summer. As the light creeps over the sand dunes, my emotions are frenzied, as I know these unique lighting conditions are fleeting. My camera’s shutter is set slow enough to show the motion of the wave as it sucks up the water in front on its inevitable crash towards the beach.

A powerful image that grabs the attention of any viewer is the result.
